Our Story
In 1954, basketball coach Don McClanen had a simple but powerful idea. He saw that athletes often used their influence to promote brands — and began to wonder what might happen if they used that same influence to share their faith in Jesus Christ. From that vision, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) was born. What started as a few coaches and players meeting to pray and encourage one another has grown into a global movement dedicated to bringing together faith and sport. The heart of FCA has always been the same: to see the world of sport transformed by the good news of Jesus Christ through the lives of coaches and athletes.FCA believes that coaches are among the most influential leaders in society. They shape lives, build character, and inspire teams. When a coach’s life is changed by Christ, their influence can touch every athlete they lead — and through them, entire communities.
